PURPOSE:

Supports PV research center activities by assisting in planning and effectively conducting trial site experiments; Ensures efficient implementation of innovative drip irrigation design and management techniques to successfully achieve COT’s seed targets for all crops under Pioneer’s standard.  Be an active member of the safety and ISO9000 PV initiatives.

Responsabilities:

Lead Drip Irrigation Management for NRSP at Puerto Vallarta. Coordinate activities, hire, train and motivate part timers.  Supervise daily tasks and ensure crop’s water and nutrients needs to ensure excellent seed quality and quantity. Use precision technology to determine water and nutrients needs for all crops. Manage personal in charge in coordination with HR department. (Hiring, payroll, training, development, etc).

Crop Nutrient Management under Drip Irrigation System. Select the best Crop nutrients for all crops. Operate Ferti-irrigation system and have historical data for all fertilizer applied including costs.

Cooperate with agronomy/IPM unit on the implementation of Crop Protection strategies for all crops in order to deliver healthy and vigorous plants for pollination.

Mapper and GCIS management. Create permanent fields, current fields for all crops. Historical and current data base for agronomic information.

Participate in and make significant contributions to the NRSP Agronomy Team. Help at other NRSP locations with issues regarding Drip Irrigation designs, management, training, etc.

Ensure a Safety and good work environmental at the Research Center.  Implement all safety programs under his/her responsibility.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Be able to work for long periods of time in the field exposed to moist, mud, dust, heat, wind and noise. May need to work on holidays and weekends during the busiest season (Oct thru May). Overnight irrigation activities required to support the peak times during the different crops production cycle.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Either a B.S or M.S. in Irrigation and Drainage, a major in plant nutrition is a plus.

Experience: Three - five years of directly related Drip irrigation and plant nutrition.

Languages: English 80%

HABILITIES: Excellent computer, database management and statistical skills are necessary, AutoCAD, GPS, Mapper packages will be a plus Ability to work under pressure and limited supervision.

 


Tuxtla Gutiérrez Senior Research Associate Tropics


POSITION PURPOSE: Provide primary support to all Maize Product Development initiatives for Lowlands Tropics (LT) project. This position supports development of new inbreds and product creation, characterization and advancement of hybrids for the Tropics of LAN. It works in collaboration on a variety of breeding activities, integrating molecular breeding and inbred development.  The position will play a key role in managing logistical activities including, but not limited to, data collection, data quality and analysis, seed preparation, tissue sampling, and nursery activities such as planting, pollinating and harvest.  It will be integral part of the conduction of the yield test program and germplasm characterization across all the Tropical areas of LAN, including Southeast Mexico, Central America, Venezuela and Colombia.

Responsibility:

1. Supports planning and conduction of the maize product development program in the Lowland Tropics.       

·         Responsible for managing daily activities related with nursery and yield trials. 

·         Understands customer needs for the area of adaptation.

·         Supervises all note taking related to TC1, TC2, R1, R2 and pre-commercial trials.

·         Helps on definition of locations, management practices, data handling and hybrid advancement processes.

·         Organize computer files required for field maps, entry lists, planting packets, yield trial books and harvest tags

·         Supports data handling and analysis of yield trials including statistical analyses and data summarization for advancement meeting.

·         Supports phenotyping and other activities for molecular breeding projects conducted in Lowlands Tropics.

 

2. Supervises operations at the Tropics research center.

·         Hires, organizes and supervises work of assistants and/or temporary employees ensuring work is performed in safe and efficient manner.

·         Ensures appropriate internal and external connections to research are made to keep an open communication channel.

PROPOSITO DEL PUESTO:

Elaborar, supervisar y ejecutar  el programa  de Producción de semilla de la empresa de acuerdo a los planes  de calidad, en  cantidad y tiempos  establecidos.

RESPONSABILIDADES:

1. Cumplir los objetivo anual del negocio (Plan vs. presupuesto)

·         Elaborar proyecciones de producción por localidad.

·         Alocar recursos (Gente, equipo, capacidad, etc.

·         Plan local desarrollado e implementado, así como, input para el plan anual y el plan de 5 años.

·         Plan local y metas  alineadas con la operación, SM, y las metas y planes del negocio local.

·          Presupuestos de capital y operación desarrollados y enviados para aprobación.

·         Monitoreo y aprobación de gastos.

·         Comunicar cambios en el plan y en las prioridades.

 

2.- Desarrollar y mantener relación con Agricultores para cumplir con el plan de producción:

·         Identificar  agricultores y establecer relación de trabajo

·         Input para el contrato de producción.

·         Proveer soporte en actividades de campo (ejemplo, contratación de gente, inspecciones, etc.) además de documentar esta información.

·         Elaborar evaluación y pago a agricultores.

 

3.- Optimizar y completar el plan de producción.

·         Acuerdo de rendimientos objetivo y otros parámetros de planeación entre el gerente de producción y Planeación de Suministros.

·         Recibir plan de producción, revisar información de agricultores/ campos y determinar el plan de producción por localidad así como hacer los ajustes necesarios en caso de cambios.

·         Otros planes de producción (ejemplo: Cosecha, Producto semi terminado; terminado, entregas) e instrucciones de trabajo recibidas, para administrar y cumplir con el plan de entregas.

·         Pedir y recibir a tiempo la Semilla parental y los materiales.

·         Monitorear y manejar el flujo de producción, e identificar y corregir problemas de equipos, de capacidad, de contratación, etc.

·         Manejar en forma eficiente el almacenaje a granel y de producto terminado.

 

4.- Cumplir con el estándar de calidad de la semilla.- Plan de calidad

·         Cumplir con el plan de calidad, de acuerdo al manejo, flujo y tiempo de proceso de la semilla.

·         Monitorear y registrar los niveles de calidad a través de la información del proceso.

·         Seguir procedimientos control de calidad para lotes específicos.

·         Establecimiento de lotes de prueba de rendimiento y observación. Producción de precomerciales (R3 & R4)

·         Identificar problemas de calidad, así como las alternativas de solución en conjunto con Logística.

 

5.- Productividad

·      Definir la estructura de organización y las posiciones para cumplir con los resultados.

·      Desarrollar los planes de mano de obra necesaria para cumplir con las necesidades actuales y futuras.

·      Retener trabajadores calificados.

·      Desarrollar equipos de trabajo

·      Proveer retroalimentación o coaching utilizado el PM&D. Así como clarificar y alinear las metas individuales a las del negocio.

México-NAY-Tepic PTR Intern Operations


PROPOSE POSITION:

Supports research activity mainly by executing on responsibilities of the Operations group such as maintenance and reparations of field equipment and infrastructure of the center as well as supporting the seed handling process.

RESPONSABILITIES:

Oversee the day-to-day activities in seed handling operations (drying, shelling and fumigation) of Corn seed and ensure equipments performance trough the season.

Actively participate as a project improvement supervisor ensuring the implementation of quality and process improvement tools on the operations department as well as planning tools and resources

Support and follow up maintenance to field equipments, tractors and hardware systems as needed during the whole year following all safety procedures. Develop planning calendars for maintenance activities all year.

Provide support for purchase of materials and spare parts and maintain inventory records updated.

Lead safety programs implementation.

Assist in other operation activities as needed (e.g. calibration of planters, get PRIMS or SSTS reports and information, weekly reports, etc.).

The PTR intern purpose, is to plan the daily activities of field operation in coordination with the RA to improve efficiency of farm equipment (tractors, implements, hagies, NITRO), Preventive maintenance.  Develop protocols and tasks procedures of main activities area.

  1. Develop job safety analysis for the most risky activities, and ensure safety protocols are followed by operators. Enforce the used of PPE where required.
  2. Coordinate with supervisor the Logistics for daily Field Operations activities
  3. Establish in coordination with RA work methodologies with new technologies in equipment.
  4. Will develop protocols and methodologies of work for the main activities.
